John has taken on the assignment of establishing NETZEL GRIGSBY ASSOCIATES' newest region, Hawaii. With over 30 years of experience in nonprofit management and fund development, John is well positioned to help not-for-profit organizations and institutions in the State of Hawaii achieve their fullest potential by providing experienced professional organizational and financial development management and counsel.

Since the opening of our Hawaii office, John has conducted financial development/pre-campaign planning assessments for the Parker School on the Big Island and the YMCA of Honolulu; conducted a capital campaign for Christ Church Episcopal in Kealakekua; and implemented a major gifts program for the Hawaii Forest Institute. John is recognized as a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE), and serves as the director of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Aloha Chapter conducting many educational classes on the islands. John also serves as an adjunct professor in the MBA program at Chaminade University in Honolulu.

As a member of NETZEL GRIGSBY ASSOCIATES' Central Coast region, John partnered with a wide variety of nonprofits ranging from educational and religious institutions to health care, human service and youth organizations, and guided them to achieve their goals. Clients have included Marian Regional Medical Center Foundation, French Hospital Medical Center Foundation, Museum of Ventura County, Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics, Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, La Casa de Maria Retreat & Conference Center, Boys & Girls Club of Santa Barbara, Girl Scouts of the Central Coast, First Presbyterian Church of Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara City College, and Lompoc District Public Libraries.

Prior to joining NETZEL GRIGSBY ASSOCIATES, John served as president and CEO of the Channel Islands YMCA in Santa Barbara, where he provided leadership for three separate capital campaigns which collectively raised $14.6 million: a $5.3 million campaign for a new YMCA facility in the Santa Ynez Valley, a $4 million renovation of the Santa Barbara YMCA, and a $5.3 million new YMCA facility in Camarillo. During the same time period, annual fundraising increased by 78% to $1.3 million.

John earned his bachelorís degree in sociology from Kutztown State College, Pennsylvania and a Master of Education in community leadership and development from Springfield College, Massachusetts.
